Taylor Monoplane For Sale

This aircraft is a single seat, open cockpit,
wood construction, no elec., 40 hp continental engine,
basic VFR instruments, mechanical heel brakes, 5.00 X 5 aircraft
tires, I am 5'10" and 195 # and I am comfortable in it, but if you
are much bigger than that, it might be a little tight. It's a blast
to fly, looks like a little warbird.
Burns a whopping 2.8 to 3.0 gallons per hour.
If you've never flown an open cockpit plane before, you're in for a real
treat ! This is the most fun and most inexpensive flying
you'll ever do, ( in a real airplane ). Price reduced to $6900.
I'll even include a spare engine and carb.
It holds 8.2 gallons of avgas or auto fuel and the
aircraft manual says that its built to +6 Gs / -6 Gs. I have
had it up to 9,500 feet msl at 53 degrees.
Empty weight is 479 lbs.
Gross weight is 745 lbs.
Useful load is 266 lbs.
- Power-on stall speed is 40 mph IAS
- Power-off stall speed is 45 mph IAS
- Cruise is 77 mph IAS
- Takeoff distance at 5009' msl is 800 to 1000
feet
It is very responsive, but not squirrelly.
It does exactly what you tell it to do and takeoff and landing are pretty
docile once you get used to how little control movement it requires.
I thought it would be harder to get used to but
after that first hour I was comfortable with it. Now I love it !
There are no flaps or electrical system so it's a
very simple airplane, not much to go wrong.
The engine is a Continental A-40-4 with a
single Scintilla magneto and an Aero-Carb carburetor. The original
carb is a Stromberg NA-S2 which I will include with the spare engine,
but I put the Aero-Carb on the plane because it has a mixture control and the
Stromberg didn't.
At 5000' above sea level, I needed to be able
to lean out the fuel to get the most power. The engine hours are
unknown, but we installed new rings and had the cylinders honed and it
runs great.
The spare engine is also a Continental A-40-4 but
it is a (two holer) for dual magnetos and dual plugs in each cylinder.
It is disassembled but I was told it is all there, except the magnetos.
(However, I make no promises)
Flight instruments include a compass, altimeter,
airspeed indicator, turn & slip indicator.
Engine gauges include: oil temp, oil
pressure, cylinder head temp and tachometer.
Engine controls include: throttle, mixture and carb
heat.
The tail number is N6090Y.
I don't know what else to tell you but if you come
up with any more questions, let me know.
